Before 10, After 5
Emerging Into the Light
I’m very excited to be part of Before 10, After 5 exhibition that coincides with WEDGE: The Australian Ceramic Triennale.
Running from Wednesday 1 to Sunday 5 October 2025 at the Fremantle Church in Western Australia, this exhibition celebrates 16 ceramic artists who are between five and ten years into their practice — a formative period where technical skill, creative identity, and innovation converge.
Curated by Camille Reid, Before 10, After 5 offers a platform for this dynamic group of mid-career makers to showcase the evolution of their craft. These are artists who have moved beyond the early stages of experimentation, yet remain deeply engaged in refining their voice and pushing boundaries within contemporary ceramics.
The exhibition features a thoughtfully curated selection of both hand-built and wheel-thrown works, reflecting the diversity of approaches and material sensibilities that define this moment in each artist's journey. Through these works, the show highlights a balance between mastery of technique and the ongoing pursuit of new ideas, forms, and processes.
